[PureInsight.org] According to BBC new report on August 11, 2005, "Malaysia has announced a state of emergency in two towns after air pollution reached dangerous levels." [1]

The Malaysian government has ordered the closing of schools in Kuala Lumpur and surrounding districts because of dangerous levels of air pollution. People are staying indoors and wearing masks if they venture out. The hospitals are swamped with people complaining of eye, throat and chest problems. Doctors have advised children and people with asthma to stay indoors.

Environment Minister Adenan Satem said the haze, which appeared last week, is getting worse.

Shortly before this incident, the confiscation of The Epoch Times newspapers by the government of Malaysia also attracted world-wide attention. According to the July 1st report by The Epoch Times, "On June 2 and June 10, without any prior notice, the Malaysia Internal Security Ministry confiscated two issues of the Southeastern Asia Edition of The Epoch Times newspapers imported from Indonesia."

According to the news report, because the Malaysia Internal Security Ministry refused to release The Epoch Times newspapers, DZJ Marketing, the distributor of The Epoch Times in Malaysia, has been forced to stop importing the newspapers. Starting from June 2 till now, the readers of Epoch Times in Malaysia have missed four issues of the newspaper already.

On July 7, DZY Marketing received correspondence from the Malaysia Internal Security Ministry expressing that the direction of The Epoch Times reports did not fit the standpoint and policies in maintaining "friendly Malaysia-China relations."

According to Ms Xie Xiuqiong, the head of The Epoch Times in Malaysia, the reason why the newspaper has been banned in Malaysia is because the newspaper has published articles criticizing human rights abuses by the Chinese Communist regime as well as The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. In late 2004, The Epoch Times published a series of commentaries entitled Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, to expose how the CCP has brutalized the Chinese people during the past 56 years and has destroyed Chinese culture, which has sent shockwaves throughout the international community. The commentaries triggered a wave of withdrawals from the CCP in Mainland China, and the CCP is extremely fearful as a result.

The confiscation of The Epoch Times by the Malaysian government goes against the mandate of heaven. In this context, it is not hard to understand why the Malaysian capital and other surrounding cities suddenly experienced dangerous haze.
