Interior Designer: Shen Yun Displays the Traditional Principle of Kindness in Chinese Culture
After watching Shen Yun at the Broward Center for Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, interior designer Donald De Carlo and his friend Andreas Vergel, an American Airways operational manager, were both deeply impressed. Mr. Carlo said, “Shen Yun displays the traditional principle of kindness in Chinese culture. It has helped people understand the Chinese culture much better. I think this is the main characteristic of the show. From this show, I came to realize that China is a noble place with such a long history. Chinese culture should be treated as one of the sacred classic cultures of the world; it is one of the five major cultures in the world. I think Shen Yun has shown the public genuine Chinese culture.” As an interior designer himself, Mr. Carlo marveled at the design details of the Shen Yun Performing Arts show, “The color of the costumes, the continuity of the programs, the splendor of the backdrops and the synchronization of the backdrop images with the development of the performance on stage are all simply immaculate. The unity and connectivity of the costumes present to the audience a beautiful world. The characters in the show all wear appropriate costumes; it is such beauty. For people outside China who might not know China that well, it is really a wonderful opportunity to learn the Chinese culture through Shen Yun.” Mr. Vergel added, “The show is very rich in its contents. There are so many details in the show, especially in the dancing programs. The dancers present many historical legends. Not only are they shiny, but they are also extremely beautiful.”
Dancer: This is a Divine Dance
Karuna Haber is a professional ballet and modern dancer. After watching the Shen Yun show in Austin, Ms. Haber exclaimed, “Every dancer has a superb skill in the dancing performance. The dancing movements are very flexible. They kick their legs so high in the air. It is just a wonderful technique. The coordination between the stage props and the dancers’ costumes, dresses and hats is simply perfect.” Ms. Haber was especially moved by the two-string instrument performance. “What a performance! This was the most exciting performance for me. The music is so close to one’s heartbeat. It generates so many human feelings, and the two-string player is such an expert of that unique musical instrument. I am left speechless. The two-string music is just like a song. What wonderful music!” Ms. Haber was also delighted by the spiritual aspects of Chinese culture presented in Shen Yun. “Shen Yun displays an ancient, harmonious culture. I can see people’s bravery and kindness; I can see people’s spiritual aspirations towards peace, calmness and divinity. I like the images of Buddha, and I think the halos around those images are very outstanding. The power from the will of the Buddha goes beyond anything in this world as such a power comes from another dimension, yet such a power can manifest itself in this dimension of ours.”
Corporate Partner: The Battle between Good and Evil is Carried out Not Only in Heaven, but also in the Human World
Michael Quigley is a partner of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. After watching Shen Yun Performing Arts, Mr. Quigley said, “The battle between good and evil is carried out not only in heaven, but also in the human world. Look at this world. There are so many violent incidents happening right now in the Middle East. There are also many problems inside China. However, from Shen Yun, one can see the dawn of victory, one can see hopes and bright futures ahead and one can expect justice to overwhelm evil in the end. This is the dawn to me. Such a message carries with it a very strong power. I think Shen Yun performers are engaging in something very beautiful and inspirational. I have never seen such a side of the Chinese culture, and I am very thankful to Shen Yun for bringing me such a beautiful Chinese culture.” Mr. Quigley continued, “Shen Yun is a renaissance of traditional Chinese culture. When people talk about China today, people think about materialism, atheism and the many conflicts in China. However, what Shen Yun has presented to us today is the beauty of the Chinese culture. Such a genuine beauty comes from Heaven. This show has connected people to God. It tells us that each of us can shine in our activities. It has given people a unique motivation to perfect themselves, to look up to the highest standards to measure themselves.”
