I thought it was no big deal for the room to be a little messy or dirty. After cultivating for a long time, I realized that a cultivator’s living environment is also very important. One can’t always study the Fa nor do the exercises in a dirty, messy, and bad environment. That is also disrespectful of Master. Master also mentioned in “Sage” in Essential for Further Advancement, “…he is full of great aspirations while minding minor details,” and in “Buddha-Nature and Demon Nature”: “One’s demon-nature is viciousness, and it manifests as killing, stealing and robbing, selfishness, wicked thoughts, sowing discord, stirring up troubles by spreading rumors, jealousy, wickedness, anger, laziness, incest and so on.” I have enlightened that being lazy is not a minor thing and it also needs to be cultivated away. Therefore I gradually made my home and office cleaner.
A few days ago, I did not promptly throw away my leftover food after cooking. Because the weather was hot, on the second day of coming home from work, I saw that there were many flying bugs in the trash bag. I tied up the plastic bag and put it outside my door intending to throw it away on my way out. Then I rinsed the trashcan clean with water from the tap.
However, while the water was swishing around inside the trashcan, countless flying bugs flew out from the bottom of the barrel. Without thinking about it, I instinctively turned the water pressure up to quickly rinse the flying bugs away. But when I was rinsing, a thought flashed through my mind: I am killing lives, I am killing these bugs. Since that day, I never dared to treat trash casually. This trash was supposed to be thrown away on time, but my laziness attracted flying bugs and they were even killed by me. I then thought that if what has to be cultivated away in cultivation is not cultivated away, these bad substances will influence one’s cultivation, leading the practitioner to make mistakes that should not be made. Cultivation is not a trivial thing. As a cultivator, one should remind oneself that he/she is a cultivator at all times, places, and issues, and be a practitioner with openness and dignity by following the requirements of Dafa.
