[PureInsight.org] Teacher said, "Of course, this is cultivation, and as long as you have strong righteous thoughts you'll surely be able to overcome it. There are bound to be difficulties. Human beings have karma before they cultivate, they need to eliminate karma during cultivation, and when they eliminate karma they suffer. That's the karma you owed from before, and Master can't eliminate all of it for you. If you were to become a divine being without paying off any karmic debt, divine beings would find your presence to be a nuisance: 'How can you be among us? Have you paid off those debts you owed? They were all taken off and paid off by your master. Since when does it work like that?' Of course it doesn't work like that, and that's why you need to endure a certain amount of suffering when you cultivate." (From "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference")
Some people have more karma before they cultivate, especially the third type of Falun Gong practitioners. They will have to endure more hardship during their cultivation practice to eliminate their karma. How can one complain it is unfair? After all, it is not because Teacher did not eliminate their karma, but because Teacher can not eliminate all of their karma. Those who have more karma are bound to encounter a lot of tribulations even after Teacher has eliminated a substantial amount of karma for them. How can one complain when one encounters more tribulations after having done more bad deeds in the past? It is the universal law that people with more karma will have to endure more hardship to eliminate their karma.
Some people have a better life because they have accumulated more virtue in the past. Others have a bad life because they have created a lot of karma in the past. How can the latter type of people complain that it was unfair? On the contrary, it is very fair because the same heavenly law applies to everyone. God arranges everyone's different path of life based on his different inborn quality. Besides, Teacher said,
"[…] today you're the luckiest being in the cosmos. You're a Dafa student, and even Gods in the heavens are envious of you, so what is there for you to feel self-pity about." (From "Lecture at the Australia Fa Conference," provisional translation subject to further improvement.)
When some practitioners with more karma are overcome with their human thoughts, they complain that they have suffered from more demonic tribulations. Sometimes they would even suspect that Teacher favors some other students and has endured more karma for those favored students. Did it ever occur to them that Teacher has endured more karma for those students with more karma so that they are able to cultivate! According to their logic, Falun Gong students with less karma might as well complain that Teacher is unfair because he has endured more karma for those students with more karma. Does that make sense at all?
