On January 27, 2018, Shen Yun had two performances at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, Maryland. Tickets were like gold dust. Many families came to enjoy Shen Yun. They appreciated Shen Yun for reviving traditional Chinese culture.

Mr. Kevin Reardon, a retired officer of the United States Navy (submarine), took his daughter and son-in-law to enjoy the performance on the evening of January 27. He said the performance made them feel so good. The tidy dance and the pretty costumes were incomparable.

Mr. Kevin Reardon said it was very impressive to preserve traditional Chinese culture. He learned from the performance how hard it was to preserve traditional Chinese culture under the rule of the Communist Party.

Robert Ward was a Coast Guard Port Commissioner in the United States Department of Homeland Security. He enjoyed the show with his wife and his brother’s family. He said the performance was beautiful, and the music was wonderful. He specifically liked the dancers.

He said that it was unique to tell the story with dancing and music. The story behind the dance brought the audience a feeling of spirituality.

Robert Ward enjoyed understanding Chinese culture from the dancing performance.

Karen Williams is the director of the federal health insurance and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services under the U.S. Health Department. She enjoyed the show with her family in Baltimore on the evening of January 27.

Karen Williams said she liked the Shen Yun music presented by the combination of Chinese and Western instruments.

It was the fourth time Karen enjoyed the show. She said Shen Yun has a different program each year. She also knew about Falun Dafa.

Karen wished Shen Yun could go back to China soon. She said, “Everybody will know it is a wonderful show. I believe it is a good thing that the artists spread it unselfishly.”

A Principal of Wushu: Erhu Performance is Beyond My Words

Kevin Lockett, principal of a Maryland martial arts school, remarked that Shen Yun was a very special and charming show.

In addition to running his own martial arts school, Lockett plays a variety of musical instruments and performed thousands of times with the band. It was the first time he enjoyed the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra. He said there were so many surprises in the combination of traditional Chinese and Western instruments.

He was impressed by the unique Chinese music in the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra, especially the Erhu performance. He said, "I like the Erhu performance. It is very unique.”

"The erhu can express rich emotions. It is very touching.” Lockett said it was hard to describe the feeling he had from the Erhu, but he was very touched.

He was impressed by the Shen Yun singers. He believed they were the most powerful voices he had ever heard. The reverberation was very impressive!

He was particularly impressed by the lyrics. His understanding was that we should go back to traditional culture. Modern day society is causing people to move downhill.
